Here's a list for you.

"SharePoint v2 (or 2003)"

a) WSS 2.0 (= Windows SharePoint Services 2.0)
b) SPS 2003 (= SharePoint Portal Server 2003)

"SharePoint v3 (or 2007)"

a) WSS 3.0 (= Windows SharePoint Services 3.0)
b) MOSS 2007 ( = Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007)

so you see, WSS 3.0 is something completely different to portalserver server 2003 !

In any case if you post a new message to start a new thread, there's no point in posting the same message to an existing thread even if that thread is relevant (and especially when it's not :) )

When you do you'd better re-phrase it.

You have you say "sharepoint portal server" running and would like to
install "sharepoint 2003". That's the same thing.

If you mean WSS 2.0, then you can't install it on a server that is
running SharePoint Portal Server 2003 because that already includes WSS
2.0 functionality.

I ment i would like to install Wss 3.0. Is that also the same thing as
portal server 2003?
As you might have guessed i dont know much about sharepoint i just
kinda got thrown into this, so forgive the dumb questions
