Re: Email sent from sharepoint is not accepted by sharepoint

Hi Todd,

I went to get this information for you and discovered another clue to the
puzzle.

This problem only occurs if I open the form within the browser (form library
settings, advanced settings, Opening browser-enabled documents - Display as
a Web page). If I have the form open with Infopath 2007 client, then when I
ask to submit it asks me if it is OK to send via my default e-mail client
Outlook. I accept and it works properly and the form is submitted to the form
library.

After this I had the following in the log:
03/04/2008 09:38:06.91 OWSTIMER.EXE (0x0598)
0x13F4 Windows SharePoint Services E-Mail
6871 Information The Incoming E-Mail service has completed a batch. The
elapsed time was 00:00:03.9943280. The service processed 1 message(s) in
total. The service successfully processed 1 message(s): Message ID:
<29F5E67B2081B54AB25B1DBE8A29795B3E0A0652@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Now, I go back into advanced form library settings and have the form
displayed in the browser. When I submit the form, the message is still
dropped into the drop box properly and I am CC'd as I am supposed to be. The
message is picked up from the drop folder, but never shows up in the form
library.
Here is the corresponding event from the log:

03/04/2008 09:41:02.39 OWSTIMER.EXE (0x0598)
0x00AC Windows SharePoint Services E-Mail
6871 Information The Incoming E-Mail service has completed a batch. The
elapsed time was 00:00:00. The service processed 0 message(s) in total.

This is why I said that it seems that these messages are not being logged -
the only incoming e-mail events around that time show as processed 0 messages.

Thanks for your help,

Tommy

I see the Incoming E-Mail activities in C:\Program Files\Common

E-Mail" to jump to the correct lines. Can you verify there are no matching
lines in your Logs file?

Hi Todd,

Interesting indeed. I have not been able to get anywhere with it.

I am unable to make any correlation with the e-mails and logs. I really
don't think it's logging anything regarding these messages. However, the
messages are clearly picked up from the drop folder.

Interesting problem. What do the logs in the 12 Hive say when SharePoint
grabs the messages that fail?

Hello All,

I am running into an interesting problem. This is going to take a bit
for
me
to explain thoroughly, but the issue is quite simple once I get the
point
across.

I have e-mail enabled a number of libraries to accept e-mails, and it
works
flawlessly when e-mail is sent to these libraries from an Outlook
client.

I have created an InfoPath 2007 form and wish to submit forms by e-mail
to
one of these e-mail enabled lists. When I perform the submit, I can see
the
e-mail flow through exchange, get dropped off in IIS SMTP drop folder,
and
then get picked up by SharePoint. However it never shows up in the
document
library. If I CC myself on this InfoPath submit, I can then forward
this
e-mail from my Outlook client to the document library and the form
(attached)
is delivered properly.

I have spent a great deal of time troubleshooting this and have been
able
to
really narrow it down. ANY e-mail that I have generated from SharePoint
will
NOT be accepted by the document libraries.
I have created very basic test forms in InfoPath to test this.
I have also setup document library alerts and then forced them to fire
by
modifying documents in that library. The alerts will be delivered to my
mailbox successfully and they are also picked up by SharePoint from the
drop
folder successfully, however SharePoint will simply not accept the
message
and put it into the document library. If I forward any of these
messages
from
my Outlook client to the library, it works flawlessly.

It seems to me that e-mails that are fired off by SharePoint are
formatted
in such a way that they are trashed on the incoming side.

I have captured .eml files from the drop folder and compared them
between
outgoing from SharePoint and from my Outlook client, but the
differences
are
too great to sort out.

I can go on with details for a long time here, but will leave it at
this
for
now and hope that someone can provide me with any recommendations.

Also, why is there no diagnostic logging for what action is taken
against
incoming e-mails? It seems that they are disposed of and there is never
a
notification. I enabled full diagnostic logging for "email", which is
very
uninformative.

Thanks a lot,

Tommy
