Re: Question on permission of document library folders

This seems to me to be the same thing as the usual question we get which is a Site containing a Document Library.

You can't access a Document Library unless you have Access permissions to the Site (even though you can add a user to the Lib who hasn't been given rights at the server)

Here you have that the Group has more limited rights at the Document Library level than it has at the Folder Level (which is lower than Doc Lib in the structure).

What I think you need to do is have Group1A and Group1B (each containing the same users).

Group1A has read, add, modify, delete rights
Group1B has read (presumably)

("visualize" is just the wrong translation I think)

Both Groups have rights at the document library level.

1. Group1A has rights to the single folder where you want Add etc. rights
2. Group1B has rights to the rest of the groups

The same of course for Groups2,3,4,5 etc.

Anyone with better ideas ?

Hi,

I've a question on permission of document library folders.

I've a Document library "DOCLOB" with folders "FOLDER1",
"FOLDER2", ...
And have many user groups "GROUP1", "GROUP2", ...

I'd like to have that the users in every group can do nothing on
DOCLIB, so in the lib authorization i've set limited access for all
groups.

On each folder I've set appropriate permission (visualize, add,
modify, delete) only for the relative group.

The result is that users of GROUP1, can see FOLDER1 and nothing else,
but they can not upload documents in FOLDER1.

I've modified the DOCLIB permission and set for GROUP1 the
authorization to visualize items. Doing so, they now can upload
documents to FOLDER1, but they can not delete.

I'm missing something, may someone help, please?

Thanks.

Francesco
