The 2.5 is a suggestion. It's not a limit below which WSS 3.0 won't work.
2GB is OK.

I want to install WSS 3.0 on a pc running Windows 2003 Server. It will be used as a stand alone intranet server for a workgroup of 15 users. Microsoft lists the minimum hardware for WSS 3.0 as: 2.5 Ghz CPU, 1GB RAM & 5 GB HD. The CPU I want to use is "only" rated at 2.2 Ghz. Since it is a new Intel Core 2 Duo (E4500) processor, I am hoping its' superior architecture will compensate for its' barely missing the 2.5 minimum requirement. Do you think WWS 3.0 will run well with this CPU?.
I will also have 2 GB of of DDR2 PC6400 RAM and a new motherboard with a new 160 GB SATA HD.
Thank you for your input.
