Try using the following string as the server name in Enterprise Manager: \\.\pipe\mssql$microsoft##ssee\sql\query
(The following link describes this process http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=949426&SiteID=1 )

I installed WSS 3.0 with the included Database.
After some test I deleted two SharePoint Webs but forgot to ativate the "delete content database" control.
Does anyone know how to delete old databases?
I tried to connect to the database directly with the sql enterprise manager but without sucess.
Hope, anyone can tell me, how to delete old WSS databases.
Thank you!
Markus
