Hmm. Off the top of my head, have you considered creating an expires field
and then creating a workflow that removes it (or maybe moves it to a
different, archived list for future reference)?

Aside from creating some kind of app (not going to happen), is there a
way to remove a meeting instance through SharePoint Designer?

There was an event pointing to the instance but the pointer to the
workspace was removed, event saved, then the event was deleted and now
the option to remove that instance in the workaspace seems orphaned
and needs to go.

It can't be this difficult can it?
