Re: PROBLEM: WSS breadcrumb hyperlinks missing "default.aspx" at end; have to manually type?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I have a feeling this is one of the many things that are solved by adding the SP site to your Trusted Sites list (if using IE6) and (IE) Intranet (security zone) if using IE7/Vista

Greetings all,

I've prepared a standalone WSS3 server that is externally-accessible
outside our firewall. Everything works just fine, except that I'm
beginning to notice that several key hyperlinks (e.g. under the
breadcrumbs trail) have URLs that are MISSING the "default.aspx" at
the end. This results in a user clicking on a link, and getting a
"page not found" error - EVEN when I've configured IIS to (supposedly)
automatically look for a "default.aspx" page...

For example, when I'm in a document library, I have the following
breadcrumb trail:
NCG Architects Trial Site > Shared Documents

When you hover over the portion of the trail "NCG Architects Trial
Site", the URL in the status bar is as follows:
"http://webaxis3.cadworkscentral.com/sites/NCGarch";

Clicking on this portion of the breadcrumb trail yields a "Page cannot
be displayed" error.

MANUALLY adding the "default.aspx" to the URL yields a working URL,
but my users will HATE this - and rightly so...

Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening, why only certain
pages/hyperlinks in the site, and how to resolve? I suspect this is
happening to many new WSS3 users, but I'm certain I have all my fixes
& patches in place.

Thanks in advance,
- Mark
