Re: Discussion Board Reply broken after upgrading to WSS V3



I never received any reply here
(so much for Managed Support Groups)
So I opened a support issue.
(See my additional comments in the Very Dissapointed with Microsoft Phone
Support thread below)
After 6 calendar days, the answer from Microsoft is that it is a known bug
which will not be fixed until Version 4.
The actual problem is that if you add "reply" to a view (or upgradelist with
a view with Reply included) the new item url which was vzalid in the old
schema is not in the new schema.

Steps to recreate the problem

1. Create a Discussion List in WSS V3 (if you don't have one handy)

2. Add an item to the discussion.

3. Add 'Reply' to any view so that the button shows up in the line
item for that view.

4. Click the reply button

5. HTTP 400

(Note: If you open the item and click reply on the item nav bar there is no
error - the reply form opens correctly)


Shorter me: Doc, it hurts when I move my arm like this.
Shorter Microsoft: Don't move your arm like that until V4.

While this is not a show stopper, and I truly love Sharepoint, it does not
positivly influence a MOSS purchase decision.
Personal impression - Sharepoint support is seriously degrading as the
product gains momentum.

One of our discussion boards returns HTTP 400 when you click Reply to an
existing item in the Flat View.

Actually, the entire navigation of discussions is extremely confusing,
The New button only appears in the Subject View.
Reply is only occasionally available, and then it is mostly broken.
