WSS3 - How can I automatic have an increasing number in a new line/item

Hi,

Hope you will understand.
I created a list in WSS3 and my fist column in a number that I would like to
have it increasing automatically when I create a new line/Item.

There is certainly a value that I can enter to have this working.
