Hi Folks:

I have a SPS 3.0 team site with a document library. I am a member of Team
Site owners.

When I open a word document stored in the Shared Document library, it always
opens as "Read Only". I have to "Save as" to desktop and then upload the
document to the library to post changes.

The shared document library is set for tracking versions. I've tested that
both Word 2003 and Word 2007 both open it as Read Only.

what setting do i need to adjust to have the document open as a working,
updatable document?
