BTW, I realize I'll need to uninstall WSS v2 to change account modes.
To me, the order of things should be:
1) Backup site collection
2) Migrate WMSDE --> SQL Server
3) Uninstall WSS v2
4) Install WSS v3 using AD mode and pointing to SQL Server
5) Restore site collection
Is this even close to being correct?
Thanks,
Kurt
Greetings all,
Background:
We have a default installation of WSS v2 (i.e. Domain Account mode and
WMSDE database) but nobody used it for a long time. Now that we're
actually getting into it and using it, I realize that we need AD
Account Creation mode and SQL Server, plus we need to upgrade to WSS
v3. We have a few dozen users, one top-level site with a few dozen
subsites, and the only customization is a logo change (done through
FP2003) and a menu-bar web part, both on the top-level site.
Questions:
1) Aside from migrating from WMSDE to SQL Server as the first step,
what would be the recommended order of doing things?
2) What other things do I need to worry about and watch for?
3) In changing account modes, will the security settings remain the
same?
These and any other advice offered will be greatly appreciated!
Kindest regards,
Kurt
