using different content database for single site

hi
our current sharepoint has Stand-alone Server Configuration, and we
have only one virtual server in that.
a particular area in the site will be loaded with say 2mb of
information everyday. if this is the case at any one point of time the
site will go down because of that particular area.
so is there any way to have the information in that area as a different
content database.
i will be thankful if somebody suggest about the situation
