\viewkind4\uc1\pard\f0\fs20 Hi Mike,
\par
\par Sorry that I understand your concern. Maybe we have some misunderstanding due to I didn't express myself correctly. If so, I am sorry for that.
\par
\par Actually this is an unsupported environment. We do not remember to use SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to index the content of a WSS 3.0 installation. MOSS 2007 is a better and supported choice.
\par
\par Sorry for the inconvenience and hope it is clear now.
\par
\par Thanks & Regards,

\par Sally, you are still misunderstanding the question.
\par
\par It is NOT (and never was) how to "run SPS Portal 2003 on WSS 3.0".
\par
\par It IS if you can use SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to index the content of a
\par WSS 3.0 installation that has been installed **on a different server**
