WSSv3 Search Problem

Hi

i have a WSSv3 + SQL 2000Sp3a setup.

what kind of permission does a normal user need to be able to use 'Search'.
PDF iFilter is installed. The User who posted the documents in a document
library receives search results.

other users who can see and open the documents do not get search results...

any help is very welcome...
