Ah.. OK

I did a bit more research... looked at the timezone.xml file for
sharepoint (I think that was the previous post you mentioned). I
noticed for Sydney, the correct time zone was in there (and the section
for the Daylight Time) and noticed that the BIAS for the normal time
was -600 (10 hours from GMT0) and Bias of -60 for Daylight.

I have checked both the Web Application and Site Regional settings and
they are set at the appropriate GMT +10 setting (timezone ID 76 in the
timezone.xml file).

So, I still pose the question as to why Sharepoint wants to write ALL
date data based on GMT0 and it is obvious that it calculates the
"displayed" date via this BIAS setting.

Thanks for your reply, but I should clarify one thing.

When I mentioned about seeing the Date/Time at GMT0, I was looking
directly at the SQL 2005 database, through the SQL Server Management
Studio which means that the standad Sharepoint Lists (such as a
Document List) must update the database directly with the GMT0
Time/Date.

I have done a test by updating the database directy (using the New
Query Option) under SSMS and it created a record with the correct
Date/Time I specified, ruling out any transformation from SQL

I have also done a test with the Reporting Services against the test
record and it returns the exact Date/Time in the database, again, with
no transformation...

Hope the extra info might provide some assistance in discovering why.

I have several Sharepoint Sites that are running fine, show the correct
date on the page, etc.

Recently, Iinstall SQL 2005 Reporting Services to create some reports
off the sharepoint databases for the Sites.

That's when I discovered that Sharepoint seem to be recording
information at GMT 0. I have setup the sites using the Central
Administration Web to GMT +10 (Sydney). I have also noticed that, as we
are in Summer Time, it is actually recording the date and time 11 hours
prior to the date, rather than the actual date and time.

Can I ask if anyone actually knows WHY does Sharepoint do this? Why
doesn't it record the correct Regional Date Time when the data was
written?

You can imagine that when you create a report that now I have to go
through a whole lot of date calculations just to get the right
date/time for the report (unless someone knows an easier way).

Any ideas?
