Re: WSS 3.0 TR and SQL 2005 - Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages

You need to select the lower ("farm") option when you install WSS v3 - even
if you are only installing on one server.

Also you should have already installed SQL Server 2005 on that server before
doing the WSS installation and it should not be Windows Server 2003 *Web
Edition*.

Hi

I tried to install WSS3.0 but it does not show any option to choose SQL
2005. It takes the local MSDE engine by default.

Could you kindly let me know what exactly you did to hook up SQL 2005
with WSS.

Thanks

Vijay

Hello all,

I figured it out.

By default, certain directories under wwwroot were not given rights.
By inheriting the rights from the parent directory on /bin,
/App_Global_Resources, and /_app_bin I was able to get the site up and
running with no issues.

Thanks,
Greg

Hello all,

After many attempts I finally got my WSS 3.0 and SQL 2005 runnning in a
distributed environment. I had to explicitly give rights to /bin and
/App_GlobalResources to get the Home Page up and running. I am able to
post items in area like annoucements, calendar, tasks ,etc. The
problem comes when I click on Site Actions and then anything underneath
it it. I get

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SharePoint.ApplicationPages,
Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or
one of its dependencies. Access is denied.

I appears to be a rights issue. I have given rights to wwwroot for
Network Service, but that did not help. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg
