Multiple Authentication Providers in One Site?

Can a WSS 3.0 site or site collection use Domain Authentication (for internal business users) and a custom membership provider at the same time? I'm looking to setup a site that internal users will populate with documents, etc. and our customers will access using a custom membership provider (Commerce Server 2007's UpmMembershipProvider).
