Hi Engelbert,
I will try option a, but first I must move it to WSS, now it is on SPS2003.
I have a site which was made on the template Meeting and then I put content
webparts.
What I already tried is to move with SharePonit designer, but perhaps some
errors.
After I do this there is a error on the WSS3 site, cannot show webparts.
Maybe the content webparts.
I will try your suggestions.
Thanks,
Jabalili

Sorry but I'd need to write a manual to answer most of these questions.
The last point about application templates: if the only reason you are
doing this is to get the application templates working in WSSv3, just give
up the idea. There's no guarantee that they can be transfered and v3
templates are due to come out fairly soon.
My advice would be to set up a naked WSSv3 site and learn about the
fundementals of WSSv3. By the time your happy with your knowledge of that
those WSSv3 templates should be with us (and there are supposed to be more
of them and they are supposed to be better! - no I haven't seen them
myself yet, but that's what I've heard).

P.S. Look in the WSS FAQ site (www.wssfaq.com) at the Articles - 2007
Products List and search on E-Learning. There's a Getting Started with
Windows SharePoint Services v3 free on-line course that might help you
with the upgrade alternatives (I think it was that course).

Hi Engelbert,
Would you please comment a little further on some of these options for
upgrading wss2 to wss3??
a) just install WSSv3 and hope it will convert your content (has not
worked
for me)
I was going to try this -- install wss2, install a few MS applications,
put in some data, then install wss3...how come this did not work for
you??
b) install WSSv3 alongside v2 and gradually transfer
Could you explain this more?? One can have wss2 and wss3 on the same
server?? Transfer the data files, sites, etc., what??
c) save a copy of your v2 content db and then replace the content db a
new
WSSv3 installation creates with that.
Isn't this almost the same as a) above?? Have you or anyone else tried
this??
Personally I would at the moment just create a new naked copy of WSSv3
and
hopt that WSSv3TR's automatic upgrade works well.
I would do this too but you told me MS' pre-fab 'applications' (e.g.
team site, project site, etc.) won't work in wss3, I was thinking
perhaps if the install sequence was wss2, applications, wss3, then
things would work out...
I can't imagine there not being some sort of smooth upgrade path, even
with betas...But then again Microsoft has not always thought about this
(e.g. new binary MDB version each time Access was released).
Thanks, Tom
Engelbert
