Gordon, are you running Portal Server on us? Be honest, you can tell us.
The folks in this group (myself especially) only deal with WSS and have
never touched SPS in any fashion. If you're running SPS you'll have better
luck asking in an SPS group or the general Sharepoint group. Make sure and
let them know you're running SPS and which version. They like that.

We're running both WSS V2 and portal 2003 on the same box. The alerts issue was occurring on both services which run within the same piece of hardware and began after a SQL server
move. We did fix the alerts on WSS late yesterday however portal was continuing to be a problem. We've now fixed the portal issue overnight but I've not had a chance to speak to
the sysadmin about the fix.
I've tried to post relevant issues in both the SPS NG and WSS NG, we're just not too sure how these two services are intertwined.
Thanks
Jim

That's odd. I guess the next thing I'd check is Event Logs on the IIS and
SQL servers if you haven't already. If there's nothing in there you want
start watching what's going on with a SQL trace or something. That's
really
odd.

We made a move from MSSQL server A to server B. After this move we
are
no
longer able to set alerts. After about 20 sec. we receive this error:
An
error has occurred on the
server. We're thinking the alerts function might still be pointing
to
the old server. Any ideas where to look to fix this by pointing to
the
new server?
