Document Library Check-out/Check-In Behaviors

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I'm posting just as a data point to this on-going issue. This morning,
my colleague complained that she couldn't edit a Word document from the
document library because it was supposedly checked out by another user.
The other user claimed that he had checked it in. My colleague
refreshed the browser, and then could use the "Check Out" drop-down
option. I then opened the document library on my machine and opened
the drop-down list. I was presented with the option to "Check In" the
document.

I had never touched this document.

I hope this bizarre versioning and checkout behavior is corrected in
SP2. I get to find out this weekend.
