Does anyone else have any ideas? The administration site would not work if I
changed the Identity of the application pool to a domain user....

Hello Customer,
From your test result, we need to first check if there is any
communication
problem between the SQL Server and the new WSS server to narrow down this
issue. To do this, please refer to the following steps:
Note: Please perform the following steps on the new WSS server.
Step 1. Ping the SQL Server on the new WSS Server
====================================
If the destination (the SQL Server box) is unreachable, this should be a
networking issue.
If the destination (the SQL Server box) is reachable, please try the
following steps.
Step 2. Test in the Excel application
=========================
1. Start Excel 2003.
2. On the Data menu, point to Import External Data, and then click Import
Data.
3. In the Select Data Source dialog box, click New Source.
4. In the Data Connection Wizard, choose <Microsoft SQL Server> to connect
to, and then click Next.
5. Input the SQL Server name, choose Use Windows Authentication and click
Next
Now, can you successfully move on to the next step or do you receive any
error message?
If you receive any error message like "SQL Server does not exist or access
denied", it indicates that the new WSS Server cannot successfully connect
to the computer running SQL Server 2000. If this is the case on your
side,
you need to submit the question into the SQL Server queue to get more
qualified assistance.
If you can successfully set up a connection in Excel, I would like to
reconfirm with you the following information:
1. Make sure you use the Domain Account name for SharePoint Services, App
Pools in IIS
2. Make sure you assign the Domain Account name with System Administrator,
Security Administrator and Database Creator Role in the SQL Enterprise
manager.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Ada Pan
