\par From the error message ""Service unavailable" you received, I recommend you check the following information:

\par #1. Check the domain user permissions

\par 1.\tab Open Computer Management from Administrative Tools.
\par 2.\tab Expand System Tools - Local Users and Groups - Groups.
\par 3.\tab On the right pane, make sure this domain user has been added into these two groups: IIS_WPG and STS_WPG.

\par 1.\tab Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager from Administrative Tools.
\par 2.\tab Right click <WSS APP Pool> (your WSS Application Pool name), select Identity tab, and then make sure you are using the domain user account.
\par 3.\tab Also make sure you are using the domain user account for the Identity of StsAdminAppPool.

\par Does this issue recur after you reset IIS?

\par If the suggestion doesn't help, I would like to confirm with you the meaning of the "Also please note, that I was using Network Services in the application pool for the server we are currently using". Does it mean that the "Service Unavailable" error doesn't occur if you use Network Services on Identity tab for WSS Application Pool?
