Hello all,

I am somewhat new to Sharepoint Portal Services 2003, so I apologize
ahead of time and hope I can explain what I am trying to do. I
downloaded a few templates from MS as .EXEs extracted the .STP files
and was able to get them into the site gallery to use from new site
created.

However it appears I can only use those for sites created under
http://<server>/sites/<sitename>. I have a request to create the SPS
site off the root so it would be http://<server>/<sitename> which I
have done successfully, but the first time I go to the site I have to
pick a template and the newly added templates are not there. I
understand why they are not there since I imported them under
http://<server>/sites/, but how do I get them there. I want to be able
to add my templates from MS on sites I create off the root of the
server. Is this possbile or do I have to create the site under
http://<server>/sites/<sitename> and then use an IIS virtual directory
setup as http://<server>/<sitename> to get to the right place?

Thoughts?
