Re: WSS Search Help

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

While it's worth a try, I can't really see why it should have any effect but
it *has* worked as I wrote.

Note that there's some kind of warning when you upgrade to SP3 (or was that
when you go to SP3a?) the text of which I can't remember but has to do with
'you are upgrading to a back version' - you can ignore this and carry on,
it's because WMSDE is at 3a level I think.

Thanks for the input. I was not aware that I could utilize sp3 for the
initial install of SQL. I will try that and see if I have any better
luck.

This is the identical procedure that I have done many times successfully
with two exceptions (which shouldn't matter).

a) I didn't specify Query Analyzer
b) I used SQL Server 2K SP3 for the initial upgrade and then upgraded it
to
SP3a.

(I'm not sure about unchecking default)

Sorry to be of no help.

I used the SQL2000 CD and performed the following tasks:

1) Selected "SQL Server 2000 Components"
2) Selected "Install Database Server", Next
3) Selected "local computer", Next
4) Selected "Upgrade, remove, or add components to an existing instance
of
SQL Server", Next
5) Unchecked "Default" and selected instance "SHAREPOINT", Next
6) Verified that Full Text Search under Server Components was checked
and
that Query Analyzer under Manangement Components was checked, Next
7) Finished install and ran SP4.

How did you upgrade from WMSDE to SQL 2K ?

The message would seem to indicate that WSS is still using WMSDE.

I have WSSwSP2, Win2003wSP1. I installed WSS initially with MSDE and
have
upgraded to SQL2000wSP4. I have verified that SQL FTS is installed.
When
I
go to the "Sharepoint Central Administration" page and select
"Component
Configurations" and "Configure Full Text Search", I receive error
message
"The database this server is using does not support search". What I
am
doing
wrong? How do I enable search on WSS? Thanks.
