Well it's a matter of opinion, but to my mind what is not nice is posting
the same message to both groups.

If his message is obviously about WSS sites shouldn't he have only posted it
here ?

Tam, it is most likely that you have a web part showing restricted
information in the home page of the site. can users access other pages
of the site if you give them a direct url (for example of the
"documents and lists" page)?
