I am also very interested in this topic.

Unfortunatly the backup/restore option is only good when dealing with with
different servers.

What I need is to be able to copy, move or rename the sharepoint content
from one "sites" to another, for example:

http://<server>/sites/projectserver_123 to->

http://<server>/sites/projectserver_nnn
