RE: login prompt opening office document

Am I missing the setting of which you speak? Here is what I just tried...

In Internet Options -> Security -> Custom Level
In User Authentication -> Logon

With Sharepoint sit in "Trusted".

I started with "Automatic logon with current username and password".
Then tried "Automatic logon only in Intranet zone".

Removed Sharepoint from "Trusted" and added it to "Intranet".
Tried "Automatic logon only in Intranet zone".
Changed to "Automatic logon with current username and password".
Changed to "Prompt for user name and password". This time it asked me to
log in when I opened the portal site, did not ask me to log in as I navigated
to the site, but did prompt when I opened the document in Word.
Changed to "Anonymous logon" :) Yeah. Didn't think that would work, but,
due diligence done...

Thanks,
Steve.
