Adding Active Directory Users into WSS (2nd try)

Second try... (First posted in September)

I am running a Server farm that has WSS & Project Server 2003 on the
first, Developed ASP Pages and Front Page Ext on the Second, SQL 2000
Ent on the third. They all use a common External Disk Array (SAN).
All on Win203K Ent platform. The servers are only App Servers and not
DCs. It is part of a Very Large (Government) AD. I really only use
the WSS as the front End and the Developed ASP Pages as the ultimate
Apps. I use a Combination of Windows Authentication and Basic (Both
Local users - external to our AD; AD users - internal to our AD).
Enough of the background...

What I am trying to do is add an AD Security Group into WWS as a user.
Is this possible? I really want to add the "authenticated users" group
with is around 7000 users, but do not want to add all 7000 users to the
site. I do not want "annonymous access" for security reasons, plus am
mandated that I can't have it.

I have seen good replies from Mike Walsh on issues close to this, but
nothing that can answer the question. I have looked at Outlook
imports, and cross-sites, but has not worked. What about a command
line Script? I would even be willing to look at a script that would
add the 7000 users, but the fact is they change often and would be a
nightmare to manually keep up with.

I understand that this may be an enterprise question for an enterprise
solution, but if there is another way, please let me know. Would SPS
2003 be the answer? If this is not the group I should be in, please
let me know. I have been to a couple of other groups, but no luck.

Any help appreciated, even if it is "you can't do this", at least then
I will stop trying and look to another solution. I really like the
usability of WSS and would rather not though.
