Filter on date

I would like to create a view that shows list items for a change management
system. One of the columns is "date of change" so I would like to show only
those items for 7 days after "date of change". On the 8th day they should
filter out.

I just figured out a way but want to know if anyone has any better idea.

I created a new column using a calculated value called "remove from view
date" that added 7 to the "date of change" date then created a view that
filtered using "remove from view date" is greater than [today].
