Posting to multiple newsgroups is not about the posting, but about the time people could potentially be wasting trying to find you an answer. See, many of the people on the newsgroups are MVP's and even those that aren't are graciously willing to sacrifice their time to share knowledge and give answers to those in need.
Not everyone is watching all the newsgroups you potentially post to.
As a result, you may have more than one person researching your problem trying to find you an answer.
Then they would post the answer, but since you may have already gotten an answer from someone in another group, their time is essentially wasted.
It's simply a matter of newsgroup etiquette.
Think of it like roads. In the US we drive on the right hand side of the road. In the UK they drive on the left. Now when a British tourist come to visit, they're not going to be driving on the right hand side of the road because they way its done here is on the right. Newsgroups are kind of the same thing. It's just about trying not to waste people's time.
I understand how frustrating it can be when you don't have an answer and you don't really care who gets it for you so you end up posting to every newsgroup that has "SharePoint" in the name. I implore you to think about how you would feel if you were trying to find someone else an answer and spent say an hour doing that just to realize someone from another group already posted the answer. Its enough to make you mad and not want to post anymore wouldn't you say?
We're trying to encourage people to share knowledge here. Part of being a member of the newsgroup community is following simple rules like single posting. It's just a matter of respect for others.

Yes, I have edited the "web.config" and added a proxy section. But it doesn't authenticate and there are no (documented) properties that could enable authentication...
