When I've had this (usually after a user gets a new machine) the usual
answer is to write domain\usernameondomain and the network password. Writing
domain before the usernameondomain overwrites the (usually hidden) Domain
field's contents.

But this is on standard set-ups where the usual problem is that the users
are so used to writing usernameondomain without the preceding domain\ and
the initial access at least doesn't show the WSSServername\ before their
username and they presume they are in the right domain. (and don't bother to
look hard enough).

But I'd still remove those mappings ...
