Re: Updating multiple libraries created using Sharepoint templates

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Ian,

When you say you developed a library template, which method did you use?
If you defined a custom template using the CAML files, updating the change to all your libraries should be as simple as changing the definition, provided the page the library is on wasn't unghosted through subsequent FrontPage editing of course.
If you did it through FrontPage to start with, you're going to need to apply the change to each library... Sorry...

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Hi

I have developed a Sharepoint library template from a customised library
and, with the exception of a few initial hickups that seems to be working
fine. It generates libraries that look and behave the way they should.

The problem is that I have around 20 libraries and if I need to make a
change I have to update all the libraries separately.

I also use similar elements in forms and custom web pages and it would be
great to be able to manage all of these at a single source.

Is there an easy way to do this?

Possible solutions

1. I have used the search and replace functionality in sharepoint and this
helps although it is quite fiddley
2. Is is possible to some how use Frontpage templates
3. If there was a library function in Frontpage (like dreamweaver) that
stored and updated particular elements (eg Navigation bar) that would also be
useful.
4. Other??

Can anyone suggest how this can be managed

Thanks

Ian
