Using WSS I have designed various Document Libraries to store documents
securely. I am using webparts and the dataview to deliver a very neat
way of filtering these libraries by particular fields.
My problem is that the base doc lib directory now has nearly 10,000
documents in it and this is proving a problem if someone needs to
attach one of these docuements to an email.
What I would like to do is split the documents into folders in this doc
lib by months. My problem with this is as soon as any document is moved
the Modified and Modified By changes in line with the date and ID of
the person moving them (normally me). These 2 fields hold critical info
that I need to preserve.
Further to this is there any information regarding the best practices
when creating large doc lib's? Have I missed something here? Is there a
way of automating a save to a folder in a Doc Lib?
Thanks
Adam
