Hi all
I'm having a few problems which I think are to do with WebDAV. I've trawled
through the similar posts in this forum but haven't been able to find a
working solution, but apologies if I've missed the obvious answer somewhere
else. Here are the details of my problem:
Symptoms
- trying to use 'Explorer View' in a doc lib returns an error "Documents in
this folder are not available. The folder may have been moved, deleted" etc.
- when clicking a document in the library, it opens in the browser, (am
using Office2k), clicking 'Back' prompts to save the document, when clicking
'Yes' I get the same error message as above. The explorer dialog shows it has
attempted to map a 'Web Folder' corresponding to 'Shared Documents on
myServer'
- if i browse directly via 'Network places' to the newly mapped folder
'Shared Documents on myServer' I get the same error again
Server:
Win 2003 Server, Windows Sharepoint Services 2.0
Client:
Windows 2000 Professional / Office 2000 / IE6
I have tried various remedies from other posts in this newsgroup but nothing
has worked. I've tried:
- Enabled webdav extension in IIS on server
This was disabled at the time I installed WSS since the server was
originally setup in 'High security' mode. After enabling, I'm still getting
the problem, do I have to specifically go in and map an ISAPI extension or
something in the sharepoint virtual server?
- Tried to enable 'WebClient' service on the client machine, for some reason
there IS no 'WebClient' service on this machine, it doesn't appear in the
services list at all. This was a standard install of 2000 though, and I
definitely haven't removed this service. Not sure how to go about installing
this service.
-Tried accessing the sharepoint site via a machine with WindowsXP/IE6. This
machine did have the 'WebClient' service running. But I got different
problems. 'Explorer view' doesn't throw any errors, but it also doesn't show
any of the docs in the library which are visible in 'All documents'. And it
also cannot save to the mapped 'Web folder' corresponding to the library.
When I mapped the folder directly in 'My network places' I don't get any
error but I also get a blank folder without any of the docs that should
appear.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
