I am having a similar problem...
My server crashed (power outage corrupted files)
I reloaded windows 2003 and WSS
I still have the config database and the content database in MSDE but the
IIS content is gone.
I have tried to rebuild the site and then replace the database but have had
no luck, perhaps I am missing something.
Any help would be appriciated as we have no backup... another case of
functional prototype goes into production... :(
