10 Minute Shutdown

I have installed a new server with MS SQL 2000 and SharePoint Services 2.
Everytime I shutdown or reboot the server, the shutdown takes 10 minutes.
Everytime! There are no entries in the Event Viewer that show errors.
This is the second time I built this server, and both times are the same...a
10 minute shutdown. It starts to occur after I install the SharePoint
Services. On the second build, I was shutting down after every program I
installed for the test
Is this normal for SharePoint? If not, any recommendations?
