For Documentation I would recommend the Admin Guide and
SDK which can be downloaded from
www.microsoft.com/sharepoint. These guides you can print
everything or a page at a time.
For managing users instead of having SharePoint Manage
your users you can utlilize an active directory backend
and just apply groups to sites and give the groups a
role. Then you manage all users in Active Directory.
>From a disaster recovery scenerio the Active Directory way
is much easier to manage then individual sites having
individual users.
