Mike , I suspec5t you are right about STS, being that the website is
hosted on the exchange *2000* server.
But - they still use the term subweb in the Object Model
<sarcasm>just because everything else Sharepoint is so
straightforward<\sarcasm>

and
if I remember correctly, WSS doesn't sit realy well (on the same
machine) with OWA - so that might be a contributing factor
