We have an SharePoint site set up all is working well with one significant
exception. Office documents within Document Librairies take between 6 and
10 minutes to open if the client machine is running office 2003. Either
Excel or Word (dependant upon the file chosen of course) start, and seem to
hang, although if left long enough, the user is prompted for userid and
password and the document then opens. If the client is using Office 97 the
documents open quickly in a browser window without any additional
authentication.
Other doduments such as pdf files and txt files all open quickly without any
difficulty.
What different happens when a client is running Office 2003 and selects an
office document versus if the client is running Office 97?
Any suggestions where to begin looking to see why response time is so slow
when running Office 2003?
Thanks,
Grant McDonald
