Thanks Ryan
I have managed to get what I want, trouble is I am not sure how I got it. I
created a new top level site and restored the back up to it. I didnt extend
this or create a content database, just followed the instructions in the
admin guide.
I then deleted manually the entire contents of the original site. This
worked great, however, when I tried to change the authentication to browse
on the original site, the option was greyed out.
I thought then that perhaps I should have created a new virtual server, so
this is what I did in IIS, extended it in WSS. Trouble was then that
nothing worked! Permission was refused on all sites. I then deleted the
new virtual server in IIS. Then by chance I navigated to the Manage
Anonymous Access page and the settings were editable. I then set them
toAnonymous users can access the entire site and Bobs your uncle.
I have no idea how or why perhaps someone out there can explain?
Thanks for all your help
Jackie
