nobody knows how to effectively move a WSS site from one server to another.
Quite frankly this scares me regarding disaster recovery.

I have referenced at least 10 articles via Google search from credible
sources and none have had the EXACT answer thus far.

So, hopefully someone can give me some guidance.

I have two servers known as A and B. Right now, server A runs WSS & SQL
2000 SP3. I have about 10 WSS sites all using separate content databases
all local on this server and some of the sites use different application
pools.

The goal is to completely decomission server A. Server B is simply new
hardware running identical OS configuration of Windows Server 2003 Standard,
WSS and SQL 2000 SP3.

In regards to the goal, I need to move not only the sites (keeping URL's in
tact, etc.) but all of the database content itself as well. Many of the
articles I have found are SPS related however clearly state the procedures
will work for WSS sites as well to include moving across applications as
well however no dice.

I'm a seasoned administrator and I have no problems following instructions
to the letter however very poor documentation does not help.

The procedures I'm seeing quite a bit of mention of are relevant to either
using smigrate or FrontPage 2003 to create a web package from the old server
and import/restore to the new server but it doesn't tell me anything about
the content databases, either the old or what to do on the new server.

Any assistance someone could provide would be greatly appreciated and I
prefer to hear it from someone who has successfully done this.

This is a WSS question...NOT SPS.
