Yes, the first scenario you describe is what I wanted to do, and its
how my hosting account is setup, but when I attempt to insert a
webpart in my root to pull the data I run into the "web part is not
registered on this site as safe" issue. The providers I have spoken to
do not allow the appropriate access to get to a web.config file to
troubleshoot this, so I'm sunk.
Another provider I talked to implements Sharepoint and the webspace on
two separate physical machines, which makes me less than convinced
that I will be able to use webparts in the root web pulling data from
the sharepoint space. Am I correct in my assumption? I'm temped to try
them just because I'm wondering if I will find more help from a
different provider. (Perhaps they would give me access to my
web.config file, which I'm assuming I can fix my 'not safe' issue)
Interesting topic. Is my logic correct?
