Attachments in Sharepoint. Where are they stored?

I am running WSS on a Win2k3 DC. We also have some Crystal reports that
are generated every 30 minutes and saved as a PDF file to a shared
drive. I have attached these PDF's and uploaded them into Sharepoint.
WSS creates random subfolders and puts the PDF's into those folders.
Crystal can not access that location to refresh the document so my
other option is to have WSS grab the PDF file from a shared drive. Is
this possible? Can a webpart accomplish that? Any help is greatly
appreciated
