WSS V3 Extranet with Forms-Based Authentication

Hello Newsgoup,

i want to publish an extranet with wss v3 with the following
requirements:
- I want to use forms-based authentication
- the user and goups must exist as "local user" or better, in
active-directory in the perimeter network

Is it possible to configure such a scenarion with WSS v3? Or do i need
a portal server?

Have i to install ISA 2004/2006 or another software to use the
froms-based authentication?

I have only found documents, which describes forms-b.-auth. with ASP /
SQL-User.

Thank you very much

Greetings

Marc
