I'm glad you like the FAQ because I wrote it.
But I hope you'll also like this.
I would recommend before you go any further that you do NOT run STS on
Windows 2003 Server. Although this works, it is not a supported environment.
Also if you have a Windows 2003 Server available, there is little point in
spending time on SharePoint Team Services which is the back version since
Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) came out in October 2003.
There is an even better FAQ (written by ...) there so the FAQ is not a
reason for sticking with STS. There is also much better support in the
microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices newsgroup too. Here almost all
you have is me answering based on my memory of how STS works.
In addition the MSDE version (=WMSDE) that comes with WSS is better than
that that comes with STS as it no longer has performance throttling after 5
concurrent users and also no longer has the 2GB database size limit. What
you lose is Sorting with the MSDE version (which you have even with MSDE
when you run STS.
There's also in WSS a Microsoft paper telling you how to move the database
(!).
In STS I don't know. The best way was always to specify a different drive
for the database *before* you installed.
I see that you don't mind re-installing - if so (and you still insist on
installing STS and not WSS) read the STS FAQ again - it has how to install
on different drives, if I remember.
