Firstly, I wouldn't install STS on the same server as Exchange and OWA.

Secondly with the STS a back product that was replaced 8 months ago by
Windows SharePoint Services (that admittedly only runs on Windows 2003
server) I would consider it a waste of time to spend any time on a new
SharePoint Team Services set-up.

The few questions we get here these days are from people who have taken over
existing STS sites from their original "owners" - no-one is still asking
here about installations. For most of us installation lies years back and in
fact most users of STS have already moved on to WSS and no longer frequent
this newsgroup.

As a result you'll find most replies here are from me and they are based on
past experiences of running STS sites.

I have however no experience of installing STS onto anything more than an
empty machine .

So do it if you want but do it in the knowledge that there isn't likely to
be much help here.

(I would remove IIS Lockdown; *try* to install STS on the machine that
already has both Exchange and OWA; and not re-install IIS Lockdown at all -
I had my problems with it in connection with STS but it *was* then an early
version of IIS Lockdown)

But what I really would do is get a new server; put Windows 2003 Server on
it and install WSS (newsgroup microsoft.public.sharepoint.windowsservices).
It's a major step forward PLUS you would be on a current product with all
that entails in the support way. (and its completely free apart from the Win
2003 Server costs)
