Re: Subject: access denied to images (again)

Sorry for the long delay.
1. Do you use any Custom Layouts?
No
2. Do you enable content approval?
The site collection has the Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure feature activated. It was made using the Collaboration template.
3. Does the issue only occurr on one root site or occurred on all root
sites? Just the child sites of this one root site colection. No others have this problem.

I did learn this though. This site controls the quick launch bar through the menu, Site Actions, Settings, Navigation.
Many others control the quick launch bar by going through the menu, Site Actions, Settings, Quick Launch.
These load a page called _layouts/quiklnch.aspx which loads fine. Perhaps this sites child sites should all load the quick launch page rather than the Navigation page?

4. Does the issue occurred on every child site? What if you create a child
site with admin account and then try to view the site on the server? Same problem.

You will see from the screen shot, all the images for the navigation box are failing.

Hi,

It seems the issue only occurred on the child sites, to narrow down the
root cause and provide more accurate suggestion, please help clarify the
following questions:

1. Do you use any Custom Layouts?

2. Do you enable content approval?

3. Does the issue only occurr on one root site or occurred on all root
sites?

4. Does the issue occurred on every child site? What if you create a child
site with admin account and then try to view the site on the server?

Please reproduce the issue and get trace log to see if we can find more
information.

Collect Trace log
==========
a. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\12\LOGS folder.
b. Send me the last ULS logfile (<servername><date><time>.log)

Please also send me the screenshots to demonstrate the issue, we may then
find the clues.

Screenshot:
=======
1. Whenever the error appears, please press the Print Screen key (PrtScn)
on your keyboard.
2. Click Start, click Run, type MSPAINT, and click OK.
3. In Paint, click Paste under the Edit Menu, click Save under the File
menu, type a file name for the snap shot, choose JPEG as "Save as type",
click "Desktop" on the left pane, and click Save.
4. Please find the screenshot on the Desktop and send it as an attachment

Thank you. I am standing by for your reply.

This application pool is using the same account as others. Also, there are
other sites using the same application pool (and therefore same account
username and password). They are working normally.

More information.
The root site of the problem site works fine. Any child site of this root
site has the problem where you can't load the graphics for changing the
navigation.

Other ideas?

Hello,

I understand one of your sites could not show graphics from folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web
ServerExtensions\12\TEMPLATE\ IMAGES. Other sites could show the graphics
in the same folder without any problem. You also tried to basic
authentication to windows integrated, but the issue persists.

Base on the current situation, it seems the application pool account for
the site do not have the permission to access Images folder.

At this point, I suggest we open the IIS console, find the problematic web
application (hosting the site) and check the identify, please log on with
that application pool account and check if you can access the C:\Program
Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web
ServerExtensions\12\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
directly.

If there is any update, don't hesitate to post back.

(it seems my first post of this question did not work properly under my
technet
account. posting again. Sorry.)

I have several site collections on a sharepoint 2007 farm. One of the
sites
has a problem loading images from /_layouts/images/. Specifically, if you
go to any sub site from the root and go to modify the navigation, a
username/password box appears and if you cancel it several times it will
load the page without graphics.

Other site collections are loading the same graphics from the same
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server
Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\IMAGES location just fine.

The site in question was using basic authentication. I switch to windows
integrated and it didn't change the problem.
Any ideas why this one site can't pull up these graphics?
