RE: Help with user LDAP Profiles

Hi everyone, I ended up contact support and we found the error. It was being
caused by a custom security provider we wrote (I know, I know, should have
disabled all custom code and tested before calling support). Our custom
provider was returning the incorrect username which was causing the issue.
Once we fixed our provider, all was good.

Hi, I desperately need help with an issue we're having with LDAP user.
profiles. Here's the situation:
- we setup the LDAP Provider and imported the user profiles, but when the
import was done, the wrong userDNAttribute was chose (we used dn instead of
mail)
- we deleted all user profiles
- we fixed our LDAP Provider to use mail as the userDNAttribute and
re-imported the user profiles
In our Shared Service Provider, all looks good. When I look at the user
profiles, the Account Name is showing as the ldapmember:<email address>, but
when I try put users in a Person field in SharePoint, we continually get an
ASP.NET error screen with the error message "The user does not exist or is
not unique.". When looking into the issue, we noticed that the username in
the lists (on entry) are showing as LDAPMember:<dn>.
Our farm is as follows:
- Database server
- 2 front-end web servers
- 1 application server - for search and user profiles
Any idea what could be happening here?
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy
