RE: Problems Moving MOSS Databases Again

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I found the problem. The directions in the Technet article are missing an
important step.

Step 2 should be to run the Stsadm preparetomove operation against each
content database with the exception of the SSP content DB. Be sure to
include the Central Admin contentDB as well.

Hello,

I tried moving all of my Sharepoint databases from 1 SQL2005 server to
another using the revised instructions (7/24/08) from the following technet
document:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc512725.aspx

When it was finished nothing worked - neither the web app or central admin.
I brought the databases back up from the old server and everything worked
again.

Does anybody have correct instructions for moving to a new SQL server? Are
there steps missing from the document I referenced above? I tried using the
older version of this document with no luck either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
