Hi Super,
I know that you are talking about the original "Edit This Task" error.
When the user clicks Edit this Task in Outlook 2007, it actually connects to the http://<servername>/_vti_bin/workflow.asmx web service. If the connection is blocked or it tries to connect to a wrong web service
address, this error message will occur.
I'd like you to capture a network monitor trace.
Network Monitor trace log
--------------------------------
1. On the client which runs Outlook 2007, install Network Monitor from the link below:
Network Monitor 3
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=aa8be06d-4a6a-4b69-b861-2043b665cb53&DisplayLang=en
2. Click Start on the Capture menu. After clicking it, please switch to Outlook 2007 and click Edit this Task button instantly to reproduce this error message.
3. Press F11 on the keyboard to stop the trace.
4. Save the trace log files to me at v-alxie@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Alex Xie

I have posted about this before, but the problem has come back.
When a user applies the built in Approval workflow to a document, it sends
an email to the people they list. Those that have Office 07 get a button
that says "Edit this Task." When they click it, it throws the error "An
error occurred while retrieving the workflow task details. This could be
caused by not having connectivity to the server or because the task no
longer exists." Those that don't have office 07 don't see that button, so
things work fine.
Yes, if the person manually goes to the task list on the site and connects
it to outlook, from then on the edit this task button for that list works
fine. Problem is the users deal with several dozen sites and the site is
removed and replaced with a new one.
Yes, the person can go to this page.
http://<servername>/_vti_bin/workflow.asmx. It loads fine.
No, if the person goes to add/remove programs and tells all of Office to
"Run from my computer", it does not fix the problem.
Are there any other updates on this issue?
Thanks
.
